Yamirli Lojano Cruz
A New Path in American Healthcare
Hudson County
Originally from Ecuador, Yamirli Lojano Cruz was a dedicated doctor who dreamed of providing a better life for herself and her family. Driven by that dream, she courageously moved to the United States in search of new opportunities and a fresh start.
Starting over brought significant challenges, including adapting to a new culture and navigating the English language. Yamirli knew that continuing her passion for helping others would require finding a way to bring her medical knowledge and experience into a new healthcare system.
Yamirli refused to leave her calling behind. She remained determined to rebuild her career and continue serving others.
The Breakthrough She Needed
Yamirli’s breakthrough came when she joined the Pathways to Recovery Grant at WorkForce Advantage. The program provided the support, training, resources, and guidance she needed to transition into the American workforce while building on her existing medical knowledge.
Through the grant, Yamirli learned how to adapt her experience to the U.S. healthcare system and developed a practical pathway back into patient care.
Earning Her CNA Certification
Yamirli pursued certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Her hard work and dedication paid off when she successfully passed the certification exam, giving her the credentials to continue caring for others in her new country.
A New Healthcare Career
Today, Yamirli is employed at Hudson View Rehab Center, earning $20 per hour. Her journey from practicing medicine in Ecuador to becoming a certified professional in the U.S. healthcare field demonstrates the power of determination, opportunity, and the proper support.
Her Passion for Helping Others Continues
Yamirli’s professional title and surroundings may have changed, but the purpose at the heart of her work remains the same. She is once again helping others while building the stable future she envisioned for herself and her family.
