All About US
Urban Workforce Advantage is an established 501c3 since February 13, 2001. The Urban Workforce Advantage mission is to provide the communities we serve with adult and vocational education services that will improve their employment potential, regardless of their ability to pay for such services. As such, our programs will focus on servicing individuals who would otherwise may not be able to access these services.
Urban Workforce Advantage is a customer-focused, performance-based and outcome-driven organization whose mission is to provide our clients with the comprehensive services needed to overcome their individual employment barriers and the skills required to reach their employment goals, successfully engage in a career pathway and become self-sufficiency. This enables them to provide for their families, fully participate in their communities, compete in the labor market, and contribute to their community's economic development by providing added value to their employer's products and services.
For several decades we continue to maintain the success of our programs with the highest job placement rate and retention among all service providers in the counties we operate. Urban Workforce Advantage has developed strong partnerships with the local employers who hire our graduates.
We have been successfully providing ESL, ABE and Civics, Pre-Occupational Training in both Office Technology and Health Careers, as well as Job Search and Readiness and Computer Literacy for Adults and Youth. UWA is part of the WIOA-Title II Literacy Consortiums in Union and Hudson Counties.
Urban Workforce Advantage maintains the highest possible academic/educational standards and a consistent strategy across all the programs and activities offered in the industry. All our curricula are based on the College & Careers Readiness Standards and have been approved by the State of New Jersey Department of Education and Labor. Our contextualized teaching approach allows us to target High Demand Occupations in growing economic sectors in our economic region and have proven effective in practice. Technology is key to the Urban Workforce Advantage program. The use distant learning practices and web-based materials have tremendously expanded the opportunity for students to work on their skills and is a very popular complement to classroom instruction.
