Building Connections Through Recovery Support
Bergen County
Phillip Mastrotto’s journey through Pathways to Recovery has been life-changing. From his first interaction with the program, encouraging words and genuine support gave him the confidence to take the next step and join the January 2025 CPRS class.
The class arrived at the right time. It offered more than coursework: it created a welcoming space where people from different backgrounds and cultures could participate openly, form connections, and engage authentically with one another.
For Phillip, the experience became an opportunity for personal growth, meaningful connection, and a new way to serve others.
A Class Built on Connection
Phillip valued the way the CPRS class encouraged open participation. Learning alongside people with varied experiences helped the group build trust and made each lesson more meaningful. The relationships formed during training became an important part of his growth—personally as well as professionally.
A Service-First Internship
His internship at Recovery Junction with Prevention Links has been equally valuable. Phillip connected with his supervisor, Michelle, and a team whose warmth, kindness, and passion made him feel welcome. Their service-first approach showed him how genuine care can create a lasting impact in the community.
The internship also gave Phillip the chance to build relationships beyond the screen and put his training into practice. Each interaction has strengthened his commitment to meaningful recovery support.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude
Two months into his internship, Phillip is excited about the future and the opportunities ahead. He is especially grateful to Sabrina, his case manager and instructor, for the guidance and care she provided throughout his journey. With a growing network, practical experience, and a strong sense of purpose, Phillip is ready to keep learning and contributing to his community.
