Marivel Munoz’s journey reflects the power of resilience and the transformative impact of community support. After years of struggling with substance use, she has now been in recovery for a decade—a milestone that speaks to her strength and determination.

Through the Pathways to Recovery Grant, Marivel began turning her lived experience into a source of support for others. She is completing an internship at Recovery Junction Recovery Center with Prevention Links, where she is developing the practical skills needed to serve people facing difficult circumstances.

Marivel’s recovery became the foundation for a new purpose: helping others find hope, dignity, and their own pathway forward.

Learning Through Service

During her internship, Marivel has immersed herself in community outreach and harm reduction. The experience has expanded her knowledge while deepening her understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness or living with substance-use disorders.

Putting Empathy Into Action

Marivel knows firsthand how meaningful the right support can be. That perspective gives her work authenticity and compassion. She finds genuine joy in helping people who need encouragement, practical resources, and someone who believes recovery is possible.

A Thriving Advocate for Change

Marivel is more than a survivor: she is becoming a trusted advocate who makes a positive impact in her community every day. Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible and that, with determination and the proper support, personal transformation can become a source of hope for many others.
