Creating Her Own Bright Future
New Jersey
Leticia Rodriguez arrived in the United States from the Dominican Republic carrying determination, hope, and a desire to honor the sacrifices her family had made. New York City was her first stop—a place she had previously known only through movies.
The language barrier made everyday tasks difficult, while the city’s high cost of living added even more pressure. After months of trying to adapt, Leticia made another brave move and relocated to New Jersey in search of greater stability and a more affordable life.
In New Jersey, Leticia found the room to breathe, rebuild her confidence, and create a real pathway forward.
Finding a Fresh Start
Leticia still needed direction when she discovered Pathways to Recovery. The program offered the support and learning opportunities she had been searching for. She immersed herself in classes, sharpened her skills, and pushed through every doubt and challenge.
An IC3 Digital Literacy Milestone
Just a few months later, Leticia successfully passed her IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. The achievement represented far more than a credential: it proved that the milestones she once thought were out of reach had become possible through persistence and the right support.
Expanding Her English and Office Skills
Leticia’s progress did not stop with IC3. With renewed confidence, she began studying English as a Second Language (ESL) to strengthen her communication skills and open new doors. Recognizing her drive, the program also helped her co-enroll in Microsoft Office Specialist certification training, supported by an additional funding source from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Creating Her Own Bright Future
Today, Leticia stands as a powerful example of persistence and transformation. She came to the United States seeking opportunity and, through hard work, resilience, and support, began building it for herself. Her journey continues, but she is no longer simply hoping for a bright future—she is creating it.
