A Journey Toward Renewal and Purpose
West New York, New Jersey
Berenise Rodriguez grew up in West New York, New Jersey—a tight-knit but crowded community that has felt the weight of the opioid crisis for far too long. She’d watched neighbors and families struggle, and she longed to be part of the solution. Deep down, she knew she wanted a career where she could care for others, restore dignity, and help her community heal. What she didn’t yet have was the pathway.
That changed the day she learned about the Pathways to Recovery Grant.
Finding a Door of Opportunity
Berenise had been searching for a way to enter the healthcare field, but the high costs of training and limited resources made it difficult to move forward. The Pathways to Recovery Grant offered exactly what she needed: a chance to gain skills, stability, and a fresh start. She applied with determination, committed to building a better future not just for herself, but for those around her.
Once accepted, she immersed herself fully. The coursework was demanding, and balancing life in a densely populated area with daily challenges wasn’t always easy. Still, she pushed forward—never losing sight of why she began.
Achieving Her Goals
Through hard work and unwavering commitment, Berenise earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential along with BLS/CPR certification. These achievements marked more than new qualifications; they represented confidence regained, direction restored, and dreams reclaimed.
Her certifications opened the door to a meaningful healthcare career, positioning her on a long-term pathway with room to grow, advance, and continue serving others.
A New Beginning
Today, Berenise stands as a powerful example of resilience. She transformed uncertainty into purpose and stepped into a profession where compassion and skill change lives every day. Her success is not only personal—it inspires others in communities like West New York who face similar challenges and hope for a brighter future.
With the support of the Pathways to Recovery Grant and her own strength, Berenise Rodriguez turned her vision into reality. Her journey is just beginning at Hudson View Nursing and Rehab Center, where she’s already making a difference.
